Products in the Market

These technologies are currently available and actively serving the Indian healthcare sector.

  • Critical Care Ventilators (INVENTA): A fully functional ventilator designed for intensive care, developed through extensive collaboration between scientists and medical professionals.

  • Floor Reaction Orthosis (FRO): A low-cost assistive device specifically designed for polio patients with paralyzed quadriceps muscles.

  • Laparoscopic Surgery Training Simulator: A sophisticated training tool for surgeons to master "keyhole" surgical procedures.

  • Titanium Bone & Dental Implants: Clinically assessed bone plates and screws developed by INMAS, DMRL, and NFTDC.

  • Porous Orbital Implants: Hydroxyapatite-based implants that provide functional and cosmetic rehabilitation for anophthalmic patients without requiring tissue grafting.

Advanced Stage Development

Projects nearing completion and transition to the medical market.

  • Cochlear Implant: An indigenous multi-electrode prosthesis designed by NSTL-DRDO to assist profoundly deaf individuals.

  • Deep Brain Stimulator: A surgical solution to treat neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and essential tremors.

  • Trans-Femoral Prosthesis: An advanced artificial limb for above-knee amputees, focusing on improved user control and stability.

  • Minimally Invasive Surgical Tools: Enhanced tools developed in partnership with IISc and the BEST Institute.

Past Projects & Historic Products

Significant milestones that have shaped the history of biomedical technology in India.

  • Kalam-Raju Coronary Stent: India’s first indigenous coronary stent, developed to treat heart attacks by dilating constricted arteries.

  • Cytoscan System: A PC-based system for detecting cell abnormalities, widely used for mass cancer screening.

  • Project TULASI: A specialized screening program for cervical cancer, with a focus on rural and tribal women.

  • Drishti Eye Laser: A pulsed Nd-YAG laser system used as a photo-disruptor for treating glaucoma.

  • External Cardiac Pacemaker: Both programmable external and implantable versions for patients with degenerative heart disease.

  • Stress Test System: A cost-effective, indigenous alternative to imported heart monitoring systems.

Future Projects (In the Pipeline)

Current research initiatives targeting emerging healthcare needs.

  • Intra-Cranial Pressure Monitor: Sensors designed to monitor pressure within the skull for neurological patients.

  • Diagnostic Kit for Glycated Hb (HbA1C): A cost-effective solution for monitoring long-term glucose control in diabetic patients.

  • External Counter Pulsator (ECP): A non-invasive treatment system for ischemic heart disease and heart failure.
